Society Endorsements

Societies are able to endorse election candidates and this is a great way of helping students engage with the elections to shape the Guild next year.

We rely on candidates and society leaders to manage endorsements independently. This means that we will only contact you about an endorsement if we need to investigate a complaint.

I Lead a Society

If you lead a society, we recommend that you promote a candidate's campaign through your own communications channels or events. Before you do this, you should discuss whether to endorse any candidates amongst your full society committee.

If we receive a complaint about a candidate, we will ask them to prove that someone acting on behalf of the society committee agreed for the society to endorse them. We will only take disciplinary action against a candidate if they appear to be knowingly making false claims themselves about an endorsement.

I am a Candidate

If you'd like a society to endorse you, we strongly recommend that you get the approval of the whole society committee as a group and that you share material with the society to release through their own communications channels.

If you are endorsed by a society, you can include this in your own communications and social media. However, if we receive a complaint, we will ask you to show that the society committee agreed for the society to endorse you (this may be different from an individual agreeing to support you themselves).
