Campaigns

If you care about social justice, and want to address inequality, or would like to raise awareness about a cause that you’re passionate about, then read through this page to see how you can raise your voice to become a change maker.
Throughout the year, the Guild runs campaigns on a range of issues affecting students. Some are specific to the University or College, some affect the local communities/regions in which students live or work, and some take place on a national scale. Anyone can lead on a campaign – whether an officer or a student, whether big or small!
On this page, we’ve gathered some of our current campaigns, as well as past campaigns that you can explore. You will also find campaign resources on this page should you wish to be skilled as a change-maker! If there’s something you care about that you feel is missing, please get in touch so we can work together to create the changes you want to see.
If you’re still unsure on where to start, we recommend contacting us directly or visiting our annual and 5-year strategy plan, which you can use to help shape your campaign and align it with Guild’s values.

Run a campaign
Want to run a campaign but not too sure where to start? Contact us and we will give you a breakdown on the types of campaigns that currently exist or are dormant. We would also want campaigns to be led with your voice and the voices of your peers!
Get involved with a Current Campaign
In 2023-24, the elected Officer team called on the Mayor of the West Midlands to introduce free public transport for students. This is something that the current – 25/26 Officer team will continue to work on.
The Guild is committed to climate justice and sustainability, an issue that has been a concern for elected Officers for many years. Find out the latest here. The climate justice and sustainability society, alongside our Full Time Officer reps, have taken up the campaign for the 25/26 academic year. If you would like to get involved, please contact
The Guild collaborated with the 2024-25 Disability & Wellbeing Officer and Trans & Non-Binary Officer to open the new Gender Expression Item Fund and the Disability & Wellbeing Item Fund. Both funds are designed to cover the cost of items that students require for their gender expression or their wellbeing, or to help with a disability.
Previous Campaigns – open for adoption
Led by Natasha, the 2023-24 Equalities Officer, the Guild joined forces with students’ unions across the country to call for a ban on gender conversion therapy. This is now sitting as a draft bill, though the UK government has yet to publish it as of this date.
