Fees and Funding

12. Students should be refunded this semester’s tuition fee by the government. They should be eligible for a further semester’s fee and maintenance support if they choose to defer.

What are we doing about it?

Updated 1st May 2020

We're supporting the National Union of Students #StudentSafetyNet Campaign which asks for a refund of tuition fees, as well as the ability to defer without penalty and a skills grant for graduating students.

Updated 7th April 2020

We're meeting with the Vice Chancellor this week to ask for his support in our campaign - there's nothing the University can do about this locally, but between us we can lobby national decision makers to bring about change here.

We're working with the National Union of Students (NUS) to try and bring about this change, to make sure you won't be disadvantaged by being unable to give your studies everything you usually can when we're not in the middle of an international crisis.

What can I do?

Get involved in the #StudentSafetyNet Campaign. You can take 4 steps right now to support.

Sign the petition on the Government website to refund students fees for 2019-20

Submit any different ideas and look at other students' ideas to vote up, down or comment on, to make sure we've got the greatest number of student voices involved.

What have we won to date?

We have passed national policy with NUS to call for this position, and will keep working with them to try and bring about this change for you!
