Communication

Communication

We know no-one knows exactly what's happening in the world - all of us are waiting and no one can say when we'll be back at UCB or things will be back to normal. We would far more appreciate being told we are unsure what is going to happen, than, for example, saying University will start back on 29th April when we know that’s highly unlikely to be the case. We would rather things like graduation are done properly, instead of rushed through online because of the time of year. Everyone deserves a proper celebration.

10. The University should be transparent about the uncertainty of our current situation with students, and give clear and regular up to date information

11. The University should ensure all graduation ceremonies are delayed until such time as they can be fulfilled properly, in person AGREED

What are we doing about it?

Updated 7th April 2020

We're meeting with the Vice Chancellor this week to discuss creating a clearly communication strategy, to make sure you're finding out the information you need and feel able to ask the questions you need answers to.

We've also created a Coronavirus Info Hub on the Guild's website, where we'll be answering any questions you have for us and collating information as we find it out for you in once central place.

What can I do?

Chat to us on live chat on the website if you have any questions

Submit any different ideas and look at other students' ideas to vote up, down or comment on, to make sure we've got the greatest number of student voices involved.

What have we won to date?

The University have agreed that students will be able to access a face-to-face graduation ceremony at a later date and are open to suggestions of how we can celebrate your achievements in the meantime, if you have any ideas, let us know!

We've created a new ideas voting system online, that you can submit ideas for the Guild, University or wider society. We'll promote these and ask students to show their support.
