Library 

The University College Birmingham Library can be found in The Link. The Library not only provides a study space and access to physical texts but you can also access digital resources online, 24/7. The library also provides Subject Librarians with specialist knowledge of your course area. 

 

Centre for Academic Skills and English

CASE provide tailored learning and academic skills support to all students at UCB. This includes:

  • The Academic Skills Centre - which provides 1-2-1 and small group support related to academic skills development. This might include support with essay writing skills, referencing or understanding feedback. There are some drop-in sessions, or you can organise a 30-minute 1-2-1 per week. 
  • CASE Toolkits - which are online materials open to all students to help develop your academic skills. To sign up, you just need to click the link on your Canvas dashboard. Materials include support with planning and structuring your writing, presentation skills and grammar support.
  • CASE SENsitive - CASE also provide support for students with additional support needs. 
  • Grammarly - as a student at UCB, you have free access to Grammarly premium. Grammarly is an online system that helps with proofreading and grammar correction. 

 

Mentoring for College Students

If you are a student on a Further Education (College) course at UCB, you may be able to access 1-2-1 mentoring from a Higher Education student. This could help you develop your revision and study skills, think about your future career options or help you plan to move on to higher education. You can sign up to the scheme by contacting them for more information and access to an application form.
