Societies Forum
We hosted our first Societies Forum of the year, to support Societies and help them in lockdown. Read the overview from our Student Communities Officer Esther Clissett and if you have any questions, please contact us on guild.finance@ucb.ac.uk
What is 'Societies Forum'?
The forum is a safe space for society leaders to come together, make large decisions for the societies. It is attended by the committee members of each society who can vote and have their say on the issues that matter to them, but any member of a society can join the forum and watch along.
What happened at this forum?
As this was the first one, we spent a little while discussing the Forum introducing the newer societies. Then we discussed and approved the budgets for each society, meaning that they all have approved budgets now and can start setting up COVID-19 safe events and putting things into place for the rest of this semester, bare in mind we have only approved budgets for semester 1. One of the key things decided in the forum is that all societies will remain free for the rest of the year. Finally, we had a little icebreaker for all of the leaders to get to know each other and understand a little bit about each society.
You can see the events societies are running here, and you can join any society here!
What's next?
We're scheduling our next society forum, all societies will get an email to invite them along, and non-committee members can see this on our 'What's On' page and on social media!
